The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and UNICEF have been United in responding to the devastation caused by the fire in korail slum.

The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and UNICEF have been United in responding to the devastation caused by the fire in korail slum. A child protection community hub run by the Ministry has totally been destroyed by the fire and the other one used as a shelter for the displaced people.

Over 1000 Children participate in multiple interventions in these two hubs on a monthly basis. Within few hours on the emergency UNICEF supported the MoWCA to establish the temporary hub to provide mental health and psychosocial support. In collaboration with ministry of youth and sports and Ministry of social welfare for emergency response. 

SM Latif, joint secretary, and project manager of the Accelerating Protection for Children (APC) project met with Elisa Calpona, PhD, Child Protection Manager responsible for Prevention of Harmful Practices and Violence Against Children and Women (VACW) national program to assess the functionality of the hub after two days of close coordination.
